Instead of singling out the Republican party why not show us all the other political party work days because I am sure the Democratic party work days are just the same if not less
Actually no, this lack of work days being planned is record breaking for Congress, breaking the record they set after this year. And since the Republicans are in charge of the House for next year and were for this year and are the ones who orchestrated it, this absurd amount of vacation is their doing.
However, you are not wrong. I looked it up and while here Republican’s are asking to meet up 117 days out of the year, Democrats met up 127 days in 2010 and 159 days in 2009. This should be (and is) a comparison how much less Congress in general has to work as opposed to the average American.
Once again, however, this should not be an argument over the number of days Congress is in session, but the level of productivity. This last congress in 2012 passed a number of 219 bills, which is the least productive Congress since 1940. In 2009-10, there were 383 bills passed, and far more substantial ones at that. Also I shouldn’t even need to mention the use of the filibuster slowing the system down during all of these years by use of the Republicans, which I should say, is literally double that of the number of times the Democrats used it while Bush was president.
